How does the engine shipping with Cargoboard work?
Shipping an engine or engine part is uncomplicated and, above all, fast with Cargoboard. The next steps will show you how to proceed.
The booking through our platform
To place an order on our platform, you must enter your shipment details first. It is important that the specified dimensions must be entered including the packaging.
Choosing the right means of transport for engine shipping
When shipping engines, you must remove all fluids from the engine before shipping. These include, for example, the engine oil or the coolant. Once these fluids are drained, it is recommended to close all openings of the engine.
Once your engine is prepared for transport, you must then decide on which means of transport to ship it. It is important that goods with a unit weight of 30 kg or more must be accessible from underneath with a pallet jack.
After you have decided on a means of transport, the next step is to package the engine appropriately for shipment. You will find out how to proceed in concrete terms in the lower part of this page.
The collection of the bike
For engine shipping, our freight forwarders will usually pick up your goods from the curb. For this purpose, it is imperative that shipments weighing 30 kg or more are either accessible from underneath or placed on a pallet for shipping.
The delivery of the engine
Like the collection, the delivery of the engine is free curbside. Our freight forwarders unload the shipment at the curbside of the delivery address and obtain the signature for acceptance.

Packaging tips for engine shipping
If you have chosen a means of transport in the form of a pallet, you still need to properly package the engine.
- Protect the sensitive edges of the engine with an edge protector and wrap it with bubble wrap
- The packaged motor is placed in the center of the pallet. For this purpose, ideally use an additional holder
- Secure the packaged engine firmly to the pallet with tension belts
For cushioning and further protection of the engine we recommend the following packaging materials:
- Cardboard
- Adhesive tape
- Holder on which the motor can be securely positioned
- Tension belts
- Handling advice for careful handling of the goods
We also recommend this procedure when shipping a gearbox. Again, it is important that you drain the fluids ahead of time and package the gearbox for shipment. Be sure to take the packaging tips listed here into account.
Insuring the engine for shipment
It is important to note that there is no standard insurance when shipping. In case of damage or loss, only the liability according to the German Freight Forwarders' Standard Terms and Conditions (ADSP) applies.
Therefore, we recommend our shipping insurance for expensive products. You can easily and uncomplicatedly add it during the booking process.
Custom conditions for engine shipping
Frequent shippers benefit from custom conditions with Cargoboard from as few as 10 regular shipments per month. Simply contact our sales team and we will find an individual solution for you.
