What exactly is a full truck load?
We speak of a full truck load (FTL) when you as a customer book a complete 40 ton truck. This has no intermediate stops on its route to be travelled and travels on the direct route from the consignor to the consignee.
With a complete load, you have 13.6 loading meters and a permissible transport weight of 24 tons. With an ideal placement of the Euro pallets to be transported, you can thus transport up to 34 pieces.
Shipping procedure for a complete load
In the case of a full truckload, the shipping process is quite simple, as the booked truck travels on the direct route from the shipper to the consignee.
It is crucial that the loading and unloading point is appropriately aligned for a 40 ton truck. Furthermore, during the booking process, you should pay attention to which loading and unloading method you select.
This is what you need to pay attention to: Loading and unloading methods for a complete load
The ramp loading
With ramp loading, the truck drives to a loading ramp for loading or unloading. The truck is then loaded or unloaded via this connection using a lift truck or forklift. The lift truck or forklift must be available for this type of loading at the loading or unloading point.
The side loading
Side loading involves loading or unloading the truck from the side with the help of a forklift. Again, the forklift must be available for at the loading or unloading point.
The crane loading
In the case of crane loading, the goods to be loaded are loaded onto the vehicle at the loading or unloading point with the help of a crane. The crane must be present at the loading points for this type of loading.

This is how you make optimum use of the loading space for your complete load!
In order to make the best use of the loading space for your full load, you should make sure that you place your goods appropriately on the truck during loading.
For a complete load, a 40 ton truck with the following dimensions is at your disposal:
- max. Payload weight: 24 tons
- max. Height: 2.45 m
- max. Length: 13.60 m
- max. Width: 2.40 m
For the best possible use of the loading space, Euro pallets with dimensions of 120 x 80 cm are suitable. In order to make ideal use of the height of the cargo space for a full load, it can make sense to stack the goods. The prerequisite for this is that the goods below are stable and the goods above are light enough for this.
When loading the truck, of course, should not neglect the transport safety, for which the driver:inside and the loader are responsible.
For more in-depth recommendations, we would like to draw your attention at this point to our packaging tips, in which we have prepared the topic of packaging intensively for you.
