How does the shipping of large packages with Cargoboard work?
When shipping large packages with Cargoboard, you need to consider several things in advance, which we will explain in this section.
The order booking through our platform
To place an order through our platform, you must first provide your shipment details such as pickup and destination locations and exact dimensions, including packaging. This is an important step to ensure a correct calculation of the transport price.
The choice of means of transport for the shipment of large packages
After you have booked the shipment and received the necessary documents, it is time for packing.
Shipments with a total weight of 30 kg or more must be shipped on a pallet at Cargoboard. See our packing tips on this page for specific instructions on how best to pack.
The collection of the large packages
Our forwarding agents will pick up your shipment directly at the curb. For shipments weighing 30 kg or more, the goods must either be placed on a pallet or be self-driving.
The delivery of the large packages
Like the pickup, the delivery of the large packages is free curbside. For this purpose, the shipment is unloaded by our forwarding agents at the delivery address at the roadside.

Premium delivery option
With the Premium delivery option, the fastest possible delivery date is selected by default. Alternatively, a later delivery date can be selected during quote configuration.
Premium delivery option for Europe-wide shipments
If you want a fixed delivery date for a pan-European shipment, this is the last day of the specified standard duration for the Premium delivery option.
Premium delivery option for general cargo shipments
If you have a fixed delivery date, we will store your shipments for up to 3 business days free of charge. These are counted from the last working day of the earliest possible term. For each additional working day we charge you 5€ per pallet space and per working day.

When booking a direct trip, you can look forward to our fastest transport product. In this case, the booked vehicle will drive to the receiving point without delay and without transshipment points.
Costs when shipping large packages with Cargoboard
When sending large parcels with Cargoboard, the cost depends largely on the pick-up and destination locations, as well as the chosen mode of transport and the unit weight.

Send 40kg and 50kg packages
When shipping heavy packages, many consumers and businesses encounter challenges. Especially if you want to send a 40 kg or 50 kg parcel, choosing the right service provider is crucial.
Standard parcel services such as DHL have a weight limit of 31.5 kg, which may be insufficient for some shipments. Cargoboard offers a flexible and effective alternative here, because there is no fixed upper limit for the total weight. We offer a variety of transportation options including less-than-truckload, part-load, full-load and direct.
For shipments by general cargo, the upper limit is a total weight of 3,000 kg and a maximum of 6 pallet spaces. For the other types of transport, the maximum weight is determined by the loading capacity of the truck. Also with these transport options, an important point is that shipments with a unit weight of 30 kg or more must be transported on a pallet.
Packing large packages correctly
If you want to send oversized parcels, parcel shipping packaging is very important to ensure the protection of the contents. Large packages can be damaged during transport if they are not properly packed.
Therefore, use sturdy cardboard boxes and fill them with cushioning materials such as bubble wrap or foam. Make sure the package is properly sealed to prevent the contents from moving. Durable adhesive tape is suitable for this purpose. Pay attention to any empty spaces that appear and fill them in as well.
We also recommend placing several layers of cushioning material between the shipped goods and the outer shell of the box.
Finally, make sure that the package must be transported on a pallet from a weight of 30 kg.
