      The proof of delivery

The proof of delivery is an important document in the transport business, which proves the proper delivery of a shipment. The proof of delivery is issued by the freight forwarder. Upon delivery, the driver will ask the consignee to sign the proof of delivery.

If damage to the goods or packaging is evident, it is imperative that this is documented on the proof of delivery so that any claims for compensation can be asserted retrospectively. If the proof of delivery is signed without an additional note, it is considered to be a “clean” receipt. This means that the goods were delivered in perfect condition.

With Cargoboard, proofs of delivery are usually signed on the driver’s electronic device. This has the advantage that the proof of delivery is available and can be viewed immediately after delivery.
